A tiny village tucked away in the rolling hills of Southern Illinois, Cobden is a farming community known mostly for its softball size peaches and apple orchards. Home of the "Appleknockers" Cobden residents rally for their hometown heroes and attendance at the Cobden High School sporting events runs high.
The Cobden Peach Festival is held each August to celebrate the community and features carnival rides and games, Peach Queen Contest, homemade food and peach cobbler bringing together the close knit community.
The Cobden Museum on Main Street contained a great deal of memorabilia offering a wonderful peak at the lives of Cobden's residents and the history that makes Cobden a special place to call home. Artifacts previously housed in the now closed Cobden Museum were donated to the historical society and can be viewed on weekends or by appointment at the Union County Museum.
