The community of Herrin Illinois is home to a close knit family of residents known as Herrinites.  The Doughboy Memorial at Herrin Park is dedicated to the citizens of Herrin who give their lives during World War I. The entire community enjoys this beautiful city park with amenities including areas for swimming, tennis, football, baseball and social gatherings.

"Herrinfesta Italiana" , the community's yearly festival, adds to the charm of the community spirit where entertainment, Italian Food choices, carnival, art show and athletic competitions continue for five days all under the direction of local volunteers. Proceeds benefit the Herrin Chamber of Commerce, Civic Center, Herrin-Energy Lions Club and organizations that participate in the yearly event.

Residents of Herrin are closely involved with the communities educational endeavors providing positive development and success of all students. Common goals and a collective responsibility shared by parents, students, community and school have allowed many students to fulfill their goals for the future.
