The county seat of Williamson County Illiniois, Marion caters to it's residents with many recreational and cultural activities. Major habitat types on the refuge include hardwood forest, agricultural land, grazing units, brushland, wetlands, and lakes. This all sits between Carbondale, to Marion, and south to Union County.
